MAYOR VILLARAIGOSA ON OCCUPY L.A.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa appeared on “The Daily Rundown” Monday to talk about the city’s decision to clear out the Occupy L..A.

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa appeared on “The Daily Rundown” Monday to talk about the city’s decision to clear out the Occupy L..A. campers on the lawn of city hall.

“I think there is broad agreement among the occupiers that it's not sustainable to be at that city hall park space indefinitely,” the mayor said.

Villaraigosa said public safety concerns drove the city’s decision and that he’s “very empathetic with some of the issues [the protestors] raised.”

“It's not their objectives or -- that we've taken umbrage with, it's just the fact that camping out there is not healthy,” he said. “It's not safe. And it's become more and more chaotic.”
