September has begun and kids across America have packed up their backups and headed back-to-school for another year.

As the White House continues to highlight the importance of education, on Tuesday Michelle Obama took to social media and released a video on her Instagram account promoting higher education.

On Monday, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan took over the White House Instagram account to promote his department’s back-to-school bus tour.

“It’s time for our children to head back to school, and as classrooms and notebooks begin to fill up again, I’m increasingly optimistic about our country’s ability to elevate and strengthen education,” Duncan wrote on the official department’s blog. “Today I’m taking over the White House’s Instagram account to give you a behind-the-scenes look as I meet teachers, parents, students, and education leaders who have been partners in making progress for our nation’s children.”

Over the course of the day, Duncan posted photos on the @WhiteHouse Instagram account and on Twitter using the hashtag #EdTour14.

Hi everyone! I’m Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, and I’m taking over the White House Instagram account to give you a behind-the-scenes look at my annual back-to-school bus tour. Welcome aboard! #EdTour14

The First Lady and I left a souvenir at Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, and a challenge to all students to find their passion and #ReachHigher.

Our back-to-school bus tour continues in Carroll County, Ga., where a partnership between local schools and Southwire Company is giving students the opportunity to learn the skills that will help them get a job after high school.

Thanks for following the First Lady and I today as we encouraged students in Georgia to #ReachHigher, and keep up-to-date with #EdTour14 as I travel toward Alabama and Tennessee to see innovation in education at work.
