Get excited, Instagram users. The Vice President is now a member.

Wednesday afternoon @VP sent out a tweet to its 279,000 followers, alerting them the Vice President was embracing the social media picture sharing site.

Since posting his first photo Wednesday afternoon, the Vice President’s team has gone a little Insta-happy posting photos from the VP and President’s event in Pittsburgh, including his first selfie! “Found a friend to join my first selfie on Instagram. Thanks for following and stay tuned,”  the VP wrote on Wednesday in his selfie post.

The photo app has become a place of #selfies, news sharing, and a way for public figures like the President and First Lady to show they are really like us.  As the site continues to boost big numbers it is a great way for the Vice President to give supporters a sneak peek of who he is behind the curtain.

Joining Instagram is the latest move the Vice President has made on social media. Just last week he dusted off his personal Twitter account to help give 2014 Democratic candidates a boost in the midterm elections.
