In 1988 Michael Dukakis was the Democratic nominee for President, and at the DNC that fall Bill Clinton took the stage to deliver his first convention speech. In case you missed Steve Kornacki’s rant on Wednesday (insert link) he referred back to this debacle of a speech and shows how President Clinton has come a long way since then.

Wednesday, while at the Democratic Convention, Steve Kornacki had a chance to meet up with Dukakis who after the 1988 DNC had a 17-point lead. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to give him the presidency. George H. W. Bush won the 1988 Presidential Election with 53.4% of the popular vote to Dukakis at 45.6%.
