Did you participate in the Sharknado craze Thursday night?

The Twitterverse exploded during the premiere of SyFy’s latest movie, Sharknado.  It’s premised on tornados filled with sharks touching down on Los Angeles. Sharks end up on storm drains, the 405 freeway, and on traffic barriers, and Los Angelenos have to fight the deadly creatures with guns, chainsaws, bombs and even barstools.

Two hours into the campy flick, there were over 5,000 #Sharknado tweets per minute.

From Washington to Hollywood, everyone was tweeting:

Guess “90210” alum Ian Ziering and “America Pie’s” Tara Reid can file this SyFy success under “comeback.”

Excitement over the film even prompted AccuWeather.com to post a debunking of the made-for-TV movie’s plot points, including the idea that global warming caused the extraordinary weather event.

Don’t worry if you missed it Sharknado, it will re-air on SyFy next Thursday at 7 p.m.
