Congressional representatives are just like you! Well, if you have a silky smooth singing voice and some skills with a guitar.

Minnesota’s Rep. Keith Ellison celebrated the 30 year anniversary of Prince’s “Purple Rain” with his own cover of the legendary song, saying he “can’t believe” it’s been three decades since the album’s release.

The 6-second Vine version even spurred a little friendly intra-party competition. New York’s Rep. Joe Crowley – with “all due respect” – countered Ellison’s “Purple Rain” with his own rendition of “Raspberry Beret.”

Not bad, congressmen. But maybe don’t quit your day jobs just yet.
