This Thursday would have marked the 55th birthday of the music legend Michael Jackson.

The significance of Jackson’s influence on the music world cannot be understated. From his beginnings with the Jackson 5 until his death he created songs that have become intertwined in America’s music history and culture.

Today we honor Jackson’s music career, which includes 13 Grammy Awards, two inductions into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and sales upwards of 400 million records with a playlist featuring some of our favorites.

Happy birthday Michael, the world would not be the same without your music.
