New App gives women image problems

There shouldn’t be an app for this.

Last week a new iPhone game was released with one message: The best way to be beautiful is through liposuction. “Plastic Surgery & Plastic Doctor & plastic Hospital Office for Barbie Version” is a game that allows users to give Barbie Plastic surgery.

“This unfortunate girl has so much weight that no diet can help her,” says the game’s description. “We’ll need to make small cuts on problem areas and suck out the extra fat. Will you operate her, doctor?”

The free game is recommended for ages 9+ and directs those playing to cut, stitch and give an overweight Barbie liposuction to make her beautiful again. “I despair for our little girls sometimes,” Cycle co-host Krystal Ball said about the game which has been removed from all U.S. iTunes stores.

Fortunately, not everyone’s standard of beauty is as superficial as this new game promotes. During the 2013 Golden Globes, Bing aired a new commercial promoting heroic women who should inspire us all to do better.
