Fantasy Football is back

Updated

Thursday night you could hear the joy from thousands of fans and owners across the nation as football was back.

While there are just 32 NFL teams that compete every week, the fantasy sports trade association says there are 24.3 million fantasy football owners. Each week a fantasy manager must decide who to start or bench in order to win the coveted title of Fantasy Football champion, and the nice payout that is associated with thousands of leagues. “What fantasy football does is it gives you a rooting interest in games that you normally wouldn’t care about,” ESPN’s Matthew Berry said on Thursday’s show. “If you enjoy sports it makes you enjoy sports that much more. If you don’t care about football it gives you a reason to watch football.”

For those still looking to do a last minute pickup Berry has some advice for you. Michael Vick, Lamar Miller, and Josh Gordon are all players who he expects to do well this season.
