Did Richie Incognito go to far?

Practical jokes and pranks have always been a part of the sports culture, but one Dolphins player may have gone too far.

The Dolphins have suspended guard Richie Incognito amid allegations of bullying his 350 pound teammate Jonathan Martin. The story was initially portrayed as Incognito bullying Martin, but it went to a new level after reports that Incognito sent Martin racially charged text message and voicemails.

On Sunday, the Dolphins released a statement saying, “we reached out to the NFL to conduct an objective and thorough review. We will continue to work with the league on this matter.”

An NFLPA statement on the Miami Dolphins situation said: “We expect that the NFL and its clubs create a safe and professional workplace for all players and that owners, executives, coaches, and players should set the best standards and examples. It is the duty of this union to hold the clubs and teams accountable for safety and professionalism in the workplace.”
