Need help finding and reserving parking? There is an app for that.

SpotHero is the nationwide leader in online and mobile parking reservations for daily, monthly and event parking. "SpotHero is changing the future of parking," Jeremy Smith, co-Founder of SpotHero, told MSNBC.com. "For drivers, it's always a hassle finding a spot and SpotHero solves the problem by making parking easy and transparent."

Other parking apps like ParkMe and Parkopedia only give users the ability to see where possible available parking is located, while SpotHero’s software allows drivers to compare and reserve spots on the web or on their mobile phones.

In light of the Metro-North derailment, this app is trying to make life easier for the 26,000 commuters the Metro-North Hudson line serves on an average weekday by offering discounted parking and the Chicago based startup is giving away $30 of free parking to daily commuters.  All that is required is to simply download the free mobile app and follow the directions on SpotHero’s website .

“SpotHero has been cultivating a community in New York City and our hearts go out to those affected in the Metro-North accident," Nikki Hurt, Spothero’s NYC Community manager said. "Our mission is to make the life of the commuter easier. This is simply our way to truly help the daily driver.”
