Happy Presidents Day!

Presidents Day was originally established in 1855 to honor President George Washington’s birthday and it was always celebrated on February 22, Washington’s actual birthday.

In 1971, the holiday date was moved to the third Monday in February as part of the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which amended some federal holidays to create more three-day weekends. Once the holiday was moved the day became a way for all Americans to celebrate and honor U.S. Presidents.
