Dangerous, deadly and downright historic winter weather is affecting nearly half of the American population.

Millions of people continue to monitor Mother Nature's path as temperatures hit well below zero and snow is being measured in feet, not inches. It's not just the Midwest being affected; the bitter blast extends all the way into Texas. Many schools were closed on Monday and thousands were on virtual house arrest as cities closed down to help shield constituents from the bitter cold.

Politicians took to Twitter to let their constituents know how they could stay warm and the affect the weather is having on their area.
