Let the "selfie" craze continue!
On Tuesday, the 2013 world champion Boston Red visited the White House and presented President Obama with his custom Red Sox jersey. “I think any time you have a chance to speak to the commander in chief, that’s a rare opportunity," manager John Farrell said on Monday. "And for all of us that are going (Tuesday), to meet him in person, to experience the White House, we know the reason why we’re there and it’s a fun day, it’s a unique day. I think it will be a good experience by all.”
It was certainly a unique experience for David Ortiz, the Red Sox slugger who handed the president his custom “44” jersey. After handing him the jersey, Ortiz took part in the "selfie" craze with President Obama.
“He wants to take a selfie!” President Obama said. “It's the Big Papi selfie.”
This selfie is the latest self-portrait picture the president has been a part of. A few weeks ago during the Student Film Festival at the White House, Bill Nye, the famed “Science Guy, and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson managed to snap a selfie with the president. There was also the famous selfie of President Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning Schmidt during Nelson Mandela’s memorial service that spurred controversy.
