Just in time for the holidays, you can now get Amazon orders on Sundays!

The mega online retailer Amazon.com Inc. will begin Sunday delivery service to shoppers living in the Los Angeles and New York metropolitan areas at no extra charge. This deal between Amazon and United States Postal Service is the first of its kind and raises competition to another level. Amazon Prime members in these areas who get free two-day shipping, can now place orders Friday and receive them on Sunday.

Typically a Sunday delivery is pricey and limited for customers as United Parcel Service Inc. doesn't deliver on Sundays and FedEx Corp. offers only few options. As consumers shift towards shopping online shipping policies are becoming important factors to a customer's business and loyalty, something that Amazon seems to be well aware of.

Package deliveries are expected to jump 12% increase this holiday season. Add in this new arrangement with Amazon, and this could be a significant boom for the struggling postal service.
