Dear Ladies & Gents –
This week, thousands of people in 150 cities will rise up and demand what’s called a living wage. They want $15 per hour in wages -- enough to cover basic living costs and allow them to put food on the table. Right now, the national minimum wage is just $7.25 an hour. That’s about $15,000 a year for full-time workers.
How bad is the minimum wage situation in the United States?
According to Mother Jones and the OECD, the U.S. ranks third to last in terms of minimum wage as a percentage of median wage. We’re not dead last, but we’re close. Only two countries are less generous.
This week, we want to show support for workers calling for a living wage and want you to show your support on Twitter and Facebook using #FastFoodGlobal.
We’ll report on the rallies on Thursday’s show – and will share some of your tweets and Facebook posts.
Tell us what you think!
Best,
Team Ronan
