National Archives provides us with the photo above, released exactly 67 years ago today. The women wearing the rad helmets and worker jumpsuits were members of the United States Army Corps, on their way to Europe in May 1945 to take over important positions such as clerks, photographers, radio technicians and many other jobs during World War II. The Red Cross representative (with the basket) provided the Corps workers with candy bars as fuel before the trip overseas.
