I don’t mean to dwell on the moon-shooting thing, but I just want to add this one other point of note. It may be that you came to work today with not much to show for all the hype of the weekend’s super moon, only to find everyone sharing an amazing photo of the World Trade Center with super moon rising behind it, taken by Gary Hershorn for Reuters.

Wow. It looks like he figured out that azimuth, looked up the moonrise time and got himself in the right spot to make it all work. But wait. Did you see the caption on that photo?

“The full moon rises over the skyline of Lower Manhattan and One World Trade Center in New York, as seen from West Orange, New Jersey, on May 6, 2012.”

West Orange?

For those not familiar with the area, the World Trade Center is right where it says “9A” under the word “New” in “New York” on the map above.

What the hell is this guy using for a lens, the all-seeing Eye of Sauron???
