Today's edition of quick hits:

* It seems unlikely that congressional critics will listen, but it was interesting to see Secretary of State John Kerry put together a video detailing the preliminary nuclear deal with Iran.

* On a related note: "Secretary of State John Kerry is headed to Jerusalem next week to reassure Israel about the Obama administration's deal with Iran, the State Department announced Wednesday."

* Speaking of international incidents: "China has deployed its one and only aircraft carrier after two unarmed American B-52 bombers flew over a disputed island chain and through what China insists is restricted airspace.... American officials voiced increasing concern about the situation. The secretaries of state and defense both spoke with their Japanese counterparts, and a senior administration official said that Vice President Joe Biden would 'seek clarity' on the matter during a scheduled trip to China next week."

* Gutsy move: "Colorado state Sen. Evie Hudak (D), who was facing a potential recall election over her vote in favor of stricter gun control laws, will resign Wednesday, Denver television station KDVR reported. Hudak's decision assured that Democrats would hold onto their one-vote majority in the state Senate, according to the TV station, with a Democratic committee being allowed to pick her replacement."

* More good news on the ACA: "According to the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, 7.3 million people who reached the 'doughnut hole' in their Medicare prescription drug coverage have saved $8.9 billion on their prescription drugs since the law was enacted in 2010. That's an average savings of $1,209 per person."

* Haiti: "At least 30 Haitians who tried to sail to the United States were found drowned on Tuesday after their overloaded boat ran aground off the Bahamas and capsized, several days after fishermen tipped off Bahamian military authorities about the vessel."

* New Snowden revelations: "The National Security Agency has been gathering records of online sexual activity and evidence of visits to pornographic websites as part of a proposed plan to harm the reputations of those whom the agency believes are radicalizing others through incendiary speeches, according to a top-secret NSA document."

* The deal will be formally completed on Dec. 9: "A federal bankruptcy judge has cleared the way for American Airlines and US Airways to complete their merger and create the world's largest airline."

* Lively dinner conversation: "Democrats are providing supporters with prep for debating 'your Republican uncle' heading into the holidays. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) set up a website Wednesday with talking points on the economy, climate change, healthcare and immigration reform to use with family members on Thanksgiving."
