Wednesday's Mini-Report

Today's edition of quick hits.

* Meaningful delays appear unlikely: "Kathleen Sebelius, the secretary of health and human services, said Wednesday that the government needed to fix hundreds of problems with the website for the federal health insurance marketplace, but she categorically rejected bipartisan calls to delay parts of the new health care law."

* Moving on: "The Chief Information Officer for the agency running the troubled health insurance website has resigned, officials confirmed on Wednesday -- but they wouldn't say whether he was a casualty of the messy rollout. Tony Trenkle, the CIO for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, 'made a decision that he was going to move to the private sector,' CMS spokeswoman Julie Bataille told reporters."

* Road trip: "President Obama on Wednesday travels to Texas, the largest of the Republican-led states that refuse to participate in his Affordable Care Act, to highlight the efforts of local groups and volunteers who are trying to make the law work for an estimated 2.5 million uninsured state residents."

* Climate crisis: "World carbon dioxide pollution levels in the atmosphere are accelerating and reached a record high in 2012, the U.N. weather agency said Wednesday. The heat-trapping gas, pumped into the air by cars and smokestacks, was measured at 393.1 parts per million last year, up 2.2 ppm from the previous year, said the Geneva-based World Meteorological Organization in its annual greenhouse gas inventory."

* The Supreme Court heard oral arguments this morning in a case involving state-sponsored religion at local government meetings. Just Antonin Scalia apparently had "devil worshippers" on his mind.

* CBS appears to be on the defensive following revelations about a dubious "60 Minutes" report on last year's attack in Benghazi.

* With far-right lawmakers rejecting the prospects of a budget "Grand Bargain," it's progressives who are delighted.

* And it looks like Rush Limbaugh wants attention again. Today, the right-wing host said Democrats are turning women "into nothing but abortion machines."
