* For the second time in as many days, a statewide poll in Iowa was released yesterday showing Hillary Clinton with a significant lead over Bernie Sanders in the race for the Democratic nomination. A Loras College poll showed Clinton up by 38 points, which is roughly in line with yesterday's Monmouth poll, which had Clinton ahead by 41 points.

* In South Carolina, a Clemson Palmetto poll shows Clinton leading Sanders among Democrats by another lopsided margin, 43% to 6%.

* The same poll found Donald Trump leading among South Carolina Republicans with 23%, followed closely by Ben Carson with 19%. No other candidate reaches double digits, though Marco Rubio is close with 9% and Ted Cruz is fourth with 8%.

* Trump hosted a rally in Iowa yesterday, where his poll support has slipped recently. He told attendees last night, “Iowa, will you get your numbers up, please? Will you get these numbers up? I promise you I will do such a good job.”

* Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) of Ohio, one of the higher-profile progressive champions in the Senate, threw his support yesterday to Hillary Clinton's campaign.

* The Fox Business Network announced the format yesterday for its Nov. 10 debate for the Republican presidential candidates. Once again, there will be a kids-table debate preceding the prime-time debate.

* Chris Christie's support has dropped to the point that he is awfully close to being excluded from the main stage next month.

* On MSNBC yesterday, Lindsey Graham expressed frustration about losing to Carson and Trump. “On our side, you’ve got the No. 2 guy [who] tried to kill someone at 14, and the No. 1 is high energy and crazy as hell,” he said. "How am I losing to these people?"
