Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:

* How excited are Democrats about Mitt Romney's refusal to disclose his tax returns? The DNC, the American Bridge super PAC, and the Obama campaign all released ads on the subject this morning. This one, from Team Obama, is set to reach airwaves today.

* A poll from bipartisan public affairs firm Purple Strategies shows Mitt Romney leading President Obama by three points in Florida, while Obama leads by the same margin in Ohio. The same poll also shows the president with narrow leads in Colorado and Virginia.

* For the first time this year, the Republican National Committee is airing pro-Romney ads, launching a $5 million ad buy yesterday in seven battleground states.

* Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is aware of the fact that Romney is using her rhetoric from 2008 against the president in new attack ads, but she said yesterday the ads are "a waste of money."

* The staff shake-up at Team Romney isn't quite finished, with the campaign hiring Danny Diaz and Kevin Sheridan, two seasoned Republican aides, as "senior advisors."

* A whole lot of New Jersey voters see Gov. Chris Christie (R) as a "bully" in the new Quinnipiac poll, but he maintains a decent approval rating.

* Citing health concerns, former President George H.W. Bush will not attend the Republican National Convention next month. It's the first RNC he'll miss in more than 35 years.
