Today's installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.
Today's installment of campaign-related news items from across the country.

* With Louisiana's gubernatorial race just 18 days away, the latest WVLA poll shows John Bel Edwards (D) with a big lead over Sen. David Vitter (R), 52% to 32%.

* A new Monmouth poll shows Hillary Clinton inching past Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire -- which has been one of the Vermonter's strongest states -- 48% to 45%. A month ago, the same poll showed Sanders up by seven.

* Marco Rubio's total number of Senate endorsements went from zero to one yesterday when he picked up support from Sen. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.). Rubio cut a Spanish-language ad for the far-right Coloradan last year. Gardner, ironically, won his 2014 election in part by condemning his Democratic challenger for missing too many Senate votes.

* Jeb Bush tried to reboot his struggling presidential campaign yesterday, kicking off a daylong “Jeb Can Fix It” tour through the former governor's home state of Florida.

* On a related note, at one of the Florida events, Jeb Bush received an endorsement from Richard Corcoran -- Marco Rubio's former chief of staff.

* And speaking of Rubio, the Orlando Sentinel's Scott Maxwell argued over the weekend that the senator's persistent troubles with his personal finances may very well become a major hurdle for his national candidacy as the race continues.

* It's Election Day in Kentucky. The outcome will very likely dictate whether 400,000 low-income residents have access to affordable health care next year.

* It's also Election Day in Virginia, where Democrats hope to get a net gain of two seats in the state Senate, reclaiming a majority in the chamber.

* Rep. Rich Nugent (R-Fla;) announced yesterday he will retire after just three terms. The Florida Republican represents a heavily GOP-friendly district and both sides expect Nugent's seat to remain "red" after next year's election.
