Today’s installment of campaign-related news items that won’t necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* American Bridge this morning launched a “digital/research/rapid-response project” called Real Koch Facts, and the p.r. offensive includes this new television ad, slated to run nationally on cable.
* With less than a week to go in Georgia’s Republican U.S. Senate primary, Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.) is now going after former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel (R) for not hating gay people enough.
* In North Carolina, PPP’s latest poll, the first since the Republican primary, shows incumbent Sen. Kay Hagan (D) leading Thom Tillis (R) by just two points, 38% to 36%. The same poll shows Libertarian Sean Haugh with 11%.
* In Arkansas’ closely watched U.S. Senate race, the conventional wisdom has said incumbent Sen. Mark Pryor (D) will avoid any and all references to health care, but in reality, the Democrat apparently intends to focus heavily on Medicaid expansion – and Rep. Tom Cotton’s (R) opposition to the policy.
* In Michigan’s closely watched U.S. Senate race, the contest is increasingly focused on climate change and Terri Lynn Land’s (R) reluctance to say whether she believes human activity is responsible for global warming.
* In New Hampshire, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D) has launched her second television ad of the cycle. Like the first, the senator’s latest spot is positive and doesn’t mention her rival, former Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.).
* And the Republican establishment continues to look askance at Rep. Kerry Bentivolio (R), with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce throwing its support to his primary rival, attorney David Trott.
