Today’s installment of campaign-related news items that won’t necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:
* The Romney campaign is, at least on the surface, trying to reach out to Latino voters with a new Spanish-language ad featuring Craig Romney, the candidate’s youngest son. The campaign, however, is only investing $10,000 in the spot, suggesting it’ll be seen by almost no one.
* Democrats at the national level are absolutely committed to the U.S. Senate race in North Dakota, as evidenced by this new ad targeting Rep. Rick Berg’s (R) votes to raise his own pay, giving tax breaks to millionaires, and against raising the minimum wage.
* In Virginia’s closely-watched U.S. Senate race, PPP shows Tim Kaine (D) hanging on to a very narrow lead over George Allen (R), 46% to 44%. A month ago, Kaine’s lead was one point.
* In Massachusetts’ U.S. Senate race, Sen. Scott Brown (R) raised about $5 million in the second quarter, more than $3 million less than his Democratic challenger, Elizabeth Warren.
* The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee remains committed to Rep. Shelley Berkley’s (D) Senate bid in Nevada, reserving over $2.3 million worth of TV advertising time for the fall.
* As Rachel mentioned on the air last night, Karl Rove’s attack operation, Americans Crossroads, has a new ad accusing the Obama White House of waging a war on women. No, seriously.
* And on a related note, the National Organization for Women formally announced its endorsement of Obama’s re-election campaign yesterday, highlighting his accomplishments and the president’s willingness to stand up for “women’s rights against a right-wing juggernaut bent on undermining our access to reproductive health care, our economic security and even our safety from intimate partner violence and sexual assault.”
