Hi, and thanks for your interest in Drift and The Rachel Maddow Show. This super-secret bonus page is really just a single blog post at the MaddowBlog, but it’s buried beneath a couple of weeks of productivity from Steve Benen and the TRMS staff, so for now it’s unlikely anyone will stumble here without the QR code on the sticker on your bookmark.
What we’ve got here is wallpaper (jpg) for your smartphone followed by a few ringtones (mp3). In both cases you should be able to save the media to your phone and then set it from whatever library your phone has put it in. I know some phones will ask automatically when they sense what you’re doing, so all the better if that’s the case. Typically, holding your finger on the image or audio link for extra long will conjure a menu. iPhones require iTunes to create a custom ringtone.
This is my first time offering smart phone wallpaper, and in doing some research it seems that every phone has different size specifications. So what I’ve done here is made the sizes of some of the most popular phones and hopefully you’ll find something that works for you.
480x800 - Lots of Samsung models, Blackberry Torch, and a few HTC and LG models
540x960 - Motorola RAZR and DROID and several HTC models
640x1136 - iPhone 5
640x960 - iPhone 4
720x1280 - LG Lucid and Optima, Sony Xperia, several HTC models (What? There’s like a billion HTC models!)
I have tested on an iPhone 5, a Motorola RAZR and a Samsung Nexus S and what I’ve found is that as long as you use a centered image on non-iPhones you’ll probably do OK regardless of dimensions. If you can’t get any of these to suit your phone, let me know in the comments or @WillAtWork and I’ll try to cut something that fits.
Ok, dig in:
Ringtones (mostly noises Rachel has made on the air that also kind of sound like phone alerts):
