For much of the country, the focus is on developments in Boston and the search for answers. On Capitol Hill, there’s also new interest in comprehensive immigration reform, which is finally advancing in the Senate.

Leave to Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) to combine the two, and urge Congress to stop immigration reform in light of yesterday’s bombs.

“Some of the speculation that has come out is that yes, it was a foreign national and, speculating here, that it was potentially a person on a student visa,” King says. “If that’s the case, then we need to take a look at the big picture.”

On immigration, King says national security should be the focus now, and any talk about a path to legalization should be put on hold.

I don’t expect much from the right-wing congressman, but even for him, this is low.

For the record, there’s still no evidence to suggest the foreign national King referenced was involved in yesterday’s explosions in any way. King’s speculation remains baseless, but as is usually the case, he doesn’t care.
