So Rick Perry's getting out of the race. The Texas governor leaves so many great moments, from the "oops" to the hugging of the syrup. But Steve Benen suggests that his openness to immigration reform doomed his bid. This bit, from September, sticks:
“If you say that we should not educate children who come into our state for no other reason than that they've been brought there through no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart."
I guess having a heart is just not in this year. Governor Perry is throwing his support to Newt Gingrich, who wants poor kids to work as janitors. Republicans still have Mitt Romney, the frontrunner with the dog on top of the car, and Rick Santorum, who would annul every same-sex marriage in America. Also Ron Paul, who's still against the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
