* In a new national MSNBC/Telemundo/Marist poll, Hillary Clinton leads each of the top Republican presidential candidates in hypothetical general-election match-ups. The Democrat's advantage among Latino voters appears to be a driving factor.

* In the latest CNN poll, Clinton now leads Bernie Sanders nationally, 58% 36%. Martin O'Malley remains a distant third with 4%.

* Speaking of the Democratic candidates, Clinton has a New York Times op-ed today on reining in Wall Street and financial-sector excesses, while Sanders today unveiled his plan to combat the climate crisis.

* Ted Cruz debuted a new campaign commercial during the Big 10 Conference's football championship game Saturday night -- a game featuring the University of Iowa -- in which the senator vowed to "kill the terrorists."

* On a related note, Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) issued a message on Saturday night congratulating the University of Iowa for its "big win" in that game. Iowa actually lost when Michigan State scored with 27 second left.

* One of Jeb Bush's wealthiest donors intends to buy "full-page advertisements warning voters against being lured by Donald J. Trump's hateful message and comparing his rise to the conditions that led to some of history's most evil dictators." I rather doubt this is the silver bullet Team Jeb has been waiting for.

* Ben Carson believes the San Bernardino shootings mark the "end of the argument" about Syrian refugees, despite the fact that the shooters were neither Syrian nor refugees.

* And on a related note, Rand Paul said on Friday he wants government surveillance to focus on "people who speak Arabic."
