Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:

* In a spot that began airing over the weekend, the Obama campaign began hitting Mitt Romney over teachers and education.

* Speaking of advertising, Obama has also reportedly begun airing radio spots in Wisconsin, emphasizing Romney's "47 percent" video.

* In Ohio, CBS/Quinnipiac shows Obama ahead by five (50% to 45%); a Fox News poll shows Obama up by three (46% to 43%); and PPP has Obama leading by just one (49% to 48%).

* In Florida, a Fox News poll shows Romney up by three (48% to 45%); a CNN poll shows Romney ahead by one (49% to 48%); PPP also has Romney ahead by one (48% to 47%); but SurveyUSA shows Obama up by one (47% to 46%).

* In Iowa, the latest PPP survey shows Obama ahead by one, 49% to 48%.

* In Virginia, PPP has Obama leading by two, 49% to 47%, though most other recent polls show Romney with the advantage in the state.

* In New Hampshire, PPP shows Romney ahead by one 49% to 48%. It's worth noting that Obama will be in New Hampshire again this weekend, suggesting the Democratic campaign is still very concerned about the state.

* In Pennsylvania, a new Morning Call poll shows Obama ahead by five, 50% to 45%.

* In Missouri's closely watched U.S. Senate race, PPP has Sen. Claire McCaskill (D) with a six-point lead over Rep. Todd Akin (R), 46% to 40%.

* And in Wisconsin's U.S. Senate race, Tommy Thompson (R) hopes to get ahead by distancing himself from Paul Ryan's House Republican budget plan, which has been endorsed by Romney and the vast majority of Thompson's Republican Party.
