A few weeks ago, Vanessa submitted to the list of stories for consideration and general show awareness this Atlantic item about a series of six ground-to-air missile positions set up on residential buildings to protect the airspace over the Olympics.

The Atlantic’s map, below, plots the location of the missile sites and shows the ranges covered by those missiles.

Does that look at all familiar to you? It took a while stewing in the back of my brain but it finally dawned on me…
Shortly before the British Ministry of Defense made public their consideration of the idea of the missile stations, a guy named Duncan Barclay took advantage of the Google Maps API and turned it into a relatively simple Tower Defense game called MapsTD. Not only that, but just the other day he added the London Olympic Stadium as one of the playing fields.
