Letter: Labor GOP, Occupiers have different goals, same motive

In Indiana, a new PAC called the Indiana Lunchpail Republicans intends to run against anti-union Republicans.

In Indiana, a new PAC called the Indiana Lunchpail Republicans intends to run against anti-union Republicans. Commenter John writes:

After reading the linked announcement, I have to say I can sympathize/empathize with the message/idea of the Lunchpail Republicans. Which essentially comes down to, the republican establishment has abandoned traditional republican/conservative ideals and positions. They feel disenfranchised by the pro-corporation/anti-worker bias in their elected officials. They are not alone, I've been trying to figure out exactly when I began to feel that the Rep. establishment moved away from what I consider traditional conservative values. Though the timing is rather beside the point. It's been said before, but the general sentiment is " I didn't leave the party, it left me."I think this is the same frustration/anger/confusion/dismay that drives the Occupy folks. Ordinary people realizing that the government/party/whatever no longer represents their interests. Different specific goals, but the same underlying motive.

I'm hoping to learn some more about the Lunchpail Republicans today. Their listed president is a leader in Local 150 of the International Union of Operating Engineers.
