Wonder-watchers the web wide are noting some variation of the above quotation in honor of E.B. White’s birthday.

Also, this brief item from the New Yorker in which White, thinking back on his past on his birthday, expresses his belief that everyone has a tolerance and respect for their younger selves. Is this true? I’ve never really thought about my regard for my younger self. I’m not sure “tolerance and respect” is how I’d describe it.
