Here’s what’s up with Rachel tonight

msnbc’s rolling live coverage of the Iowa Caucuses technically begins at 6 p.m. ET (er… now!). Arguably the coverage has been live and rolling all day, but 6 p.m. is when we stop breaking it into separate shows.

So Rachel will anchor from the New York City studio, joined by Ed Schultz, Lawrence O’Donnell, Rev. Al Sharpton and Steve Schmidt, who ran the McCain Palin campaign in 2008.

Chris Matthews will be checking in from Des Moines, Iowa.

Chris Hayes picks up coverage at midnight ET until 2 a.m.

So far I’ve seen booking announcements for Michael Steele, former RNC chairman, and also for The Washington Post’s Eugene Robinson, but I just talked with one of the booking producers and there are a lot of guests lined up, so go make the popcorn and just sit back and enjoy.
