Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:

* In national polling, NBC/Wall Street Journal shows President Obama leading Mitt Romney by six (49% to 43%); Public Policy Polling shows Obama ahead by three (49% to 46%); and an Economist/YouGov poll shows Obama up by seven (49% to 42%).

* Speaking of polls, a new Fox News survey shows Obama leading Romney in Florida by two points (45% to 43%), and the president also ahead in Ohio by six points (45% to 39%).

* Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer (D) made some provocative remarks about Romney's faith tradition yesterday, saying the Republican's family "came from a polygamy commune in Mexico." The Obama campaign quickly denounced the comments.

* The Romney campaign raised $12.6 million in March, his best month so far in this cycle.

* Karl Rove's attack operation, American Crossroads, meanwhile, has raised $100 million so far this cycle.

* North Carolina Democratic Party Chairman David Parker says he'll step down, just not now.

* In Florida, incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson (D) isn't wildly popular, but Public Policy Polling nevertheless shows him leading each of his GOP challengers by double digits.

* Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), running for a full term this year, said yesterday he hasn't decided whether or not to support Obama's re-election.

* And with Romney scheduled to campaign in Arizona today with Sen. John McCain (R), super PAC American Bridge thought it'd be fun to remind folks what McCain has said about Romney in recent years.
