Today's installment of campaign-related news items that won't necessarily generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers:

* Following up on yesterday's revelations about the Romney campaign requesting 10 years' worth of tax returns from prospective running mates, the Obama campaign has a new video out this morning listing the "Top Five Reasons Why Mitt Romney Won't Release More Tax Returns."

* A new national CBS News/New York Times poll shows President Obama leading Mitt Romney by three (49% to 46%) among likely voters, and by eight (51% to 43%) among registered voters.

* In Ohio, a new NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll shows Obama leading Romney by seven points, 50% to 43%. The same poll shows Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) leading Josh Mandel (R) in Ohio's Senate race, 49% to 42%.

* In Florida, the new NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll shows Obama leading Romney by five points, 49% to 44%. The same poll shows Sen. Bill Nelson (D) leading Rep. Connie Mack IV (R) in Florida's Senate race, 51% to 37%.

* In Virginia, the new NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll shows Obama leading Romney by five points, 49% to 44%. The same poll shows Tim Kaine (D) tied with George Allen (R) in Virginia's Senate race at 46% each.

* In New Hampshire, Obama leads Romney by five, 45% to 40%, in a new WMUR/University of New Hampshire poll.

* In New Mexico, PPP shows Obama leading Romney by 11, 53% to 42%. The same poll shows Rep. Martin Heinrich's (D) lead in the U.S. Senate race growing to nine points over former Rep. Heather Wilson (R).

* In new Spanish-language ads, Romney is attacking Obama over Medicare, and Obama is stressing the economy.

* And Rep. Denny Rehberg (R), running in a very competitive Senate race in Montana, got a little frustrated with his Democratic tracker yesterday and subtly extended his middle finger in the guy's direction. How this doesn't happen more often is a mystery to me.
