Fill in the blanks.Tea Partiers are having a fit over their depiction in Marvel Comic's Captain America #602, in which a protester holds up a sign that reads "Tea Bag The Libs Before They Tea Bag You." First, let's just remind everyone that there's an actual, factual, historic analog here, a real photo of a real sign taken by a real journalist.Joe Quesada, Marvel Comics editor-in-chief, has apologized and says it all started with a last-minute request to have an artist write slogans for the blank signs in the frame above. "The book was getting ready to go to the printer, it was on fire already from a deadline standpoint, but the editor on the book noticed that there was a small art correct that needed to get done," Quesada tells Comic Book Resources. "On the first page featuring the protestors, the artist on the book drew slogans into the protest signs to give them a sense of reality and to set up the scene. On the following page featuring the protestors again, there were signs, but nothing written in them." The artist went looking for signs to copy, and found the irresistible "Tea Bag the Libs." Me, I'm seeing a Draw Your Own opportunity here. Just hit print, people, and break out the Crayolas.
