Challenge: There can be only one!

By @ieatkillerbees If you’re a Republican senator thinking of signing on with a piece of Democratic legislation, then Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) wants you to do it by yourself, says Ezra Klein of the Washington Post. That’s part of why early pledges for bipartisanship go unfulfilled. From last night’s show:

KLEIN: I don’t think that they understand that Mitch McConnell’s never going to give them a friend. And the Democrats don’t understand the Republican will never come alone. And within that space, there’s no room for anything to happen. MADDOW: Yes. Somewhere right now online, someone is Photoshopping a movie poster of Mitch McConnell that says, “There Can Be Only One.” It’s perfect. KLEIN: Certainly, after you say that, they are. MADDOW: I hope so. KLEIN: Check Twitter.
We checked the Twitter, and behold! You have given. Send more! We’ll add them to the Flickr set. Our own Will Femia answers: After the jump, a key bit from the Ezra Klein interview.
