President Obama and Governor Chris Christie have become bipartisan BFFs  since Christie praised Obama’s handling of Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in New Jersey. President Obama gave his new buddy a nice thank-you gift today:  he got Bruce Springsteen to give superfan Christie a call.

According to the Atlantic, Christie has been to more than a 100 Springsteen shows, knows every word to every Springsteen song, and dreams of playing drums in the E Street Band. But the problem for Christie is that Bruce hasn’t returned the love.

Springsteen has, until now, snubbed Christie on account of their political differences, but apparently a little nudge from the president was all he needed to make Christie’s day.

Here’s how Christie described the call:

[Obama] was calling from Air Force One, and he told me that in times of real difficulty, he thought that the only thing better than one Jersey guy were two Jersey guys, and he put Bruce Springsteen on the phone… We had a good conversation today and it was great to talk to the president and even better to talk to Bruce.

After this Jersey Guy phone date, the Obama-Christie friendship might be built to last.
