Six in ten support raising tax rates on rich

Wondering why President Obama seems so determined to stick to his guns on raising tax rates for the rich? Here’s one key reason…

A new Politico/George Washington University poll finds that 60% of Americans support hiking rates on those making over $250,000 a year, while just 38% oppose doing so. In other words, Obama’s position is overwhelmingly popular.

The result jibes with other polls on the subject in recent years. And of course, Obama campaigned explicitly on a pledge to allow the Bush tax cuts on high-earners to expire.
