What’s coming your way tonight on PoliticsNation?
Tonight we’ll prepare for the president’s his annual State of the Union address, where he’ll push forward with this “Year of Action” fighting inequality in 2014. He’s expected to announce he’ll raise the minimum wage for federal contract workers to $10.10, and will likely touch on immigration, climate change, and gun safety as well. White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett joins us to preview the big speech.
News of Obama’s executive action on minimum wage has already inspired name-calling from the right wing, with terms like “king” and “dictator” being thrown around. The Washington Post’s Dana Milbank and MSNBC Host Karen Finney will join us to discuss.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s popularity has taken a big hit in the latest NBC/Wall St. Journal poll as he continues to deal with George Washington bridge closure and other controversies. MSNBC Executive Editor Richard Wolffe and Criminal Defense Attorney Brian Wice will pick apart what it all means.
And before the show ends, Rev. Sharpton will take a moment to remember hero, civil rights activist, and folk singer Pete Seeger. Be sure to tune in to find out Seeger and Sharpton’s connection .
