If there is one thing Americans can’t get enough of, it’s sleep. Americans are sleeping twenty percent less than their grandparents, and a national sleep foundation survey found that 49% of Americans – almost every other adult – has trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. So, what happens when we sleep, how much do we need, and what can we do to stay asleep? If we finally do fall asleep why do we dream? And, what do our dreams tell us about ourselves? The NBC Nightly News series, “Sleepless in America” explores these questions. Below, a program guide:
