NOW Today: On very little sleep

03/07/12 07:01AM

The NOW team is a little groggy this morning.A few of us were up late with Alex, who was chatting with Kelly Wallace from iVillage during the thick of primary night. The rest of us were glued to the TV as the events of Super Tuesday unfolded. We've yet to meet for our morning editorial meeting at 8:30 a.m., but several storylines are already in the works: who won, what Rick Santorum does next, how much Oxygen Newt Gingrich has left - all that good stuff. This panel, these guests, and perhaps a few more will join at noon ET. read more

On Rush, speaking from personal experience

On Rush, speaking from personal experience

By Velma HartI am outraged and amazed at the same time!Clearly the Republican right does not get it and their “ring leader” Rush Limbaugh just confirmed it...again. In case you've been under a rock and didn't hear: on his radio show, Mr. Limbaugh took his usual attack position and targeted an innocent person. What was amazing to me was that he decided to take this position against someone who was doing what he does every day…express a personal opinion. I know his attacks firsthand, as I too have been victim. After all, I was going to be in foreclosure! But I digress. read more

We're back with the "NOW" Intern Moment of the Day -- and today's winner is Politico's Maggie Haberman. Or rather her Tweet is.We talked to our panel about the role of the candidates' wives. And as the primary stretches on, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum seem to be stumbling more and more, which -- according to our interns -- makes the role of the GOP wives that much more important. If these women can’t humanize their husbands and their comments, who else can? Here's the full segment: read more

NOW Today: It's Super Tuesday - let the games begin!

03/06/12 06:49AM

And so the day has finally come - Super Tuesday is upon us!Voters in 11 states head to the polls today, the biggest prize being Georgia, Newt Gingrich's home state boasting 76 delegates.  But it's Ohio that's buzzing this morning as a host of polls all put that state's 63 delegates in a virtual tie.  Speaking of Newt Gingrich - he and his wife Callista won't be voting today.  The former Speaker calls Virginia his home these days, but his campaign failed to get on the ballot in that state.  In fact, most of the presidential candidates did, with the exception of Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. read more

No Bromance

The ice seemed to thaw just a little bit during today’s Oval Office meeting between President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.  The last time the two met in the White House, things got really uncomfortable when Netanyahu made it clear that he was no fan of the President’s proposal that negotiations with the Palestinians be based on the pre-1967 borders.Check out the video from last May:And that’s not the only point of disagreement. read more

Alex's Sidekick? We're officially debuting the "NOW" Intern Moment of the Day -- and today's winner is msnbc analyst/Time Magazine grand pubah Mark Halperin correcting Alex about Santorum campaign staffer, J. Hogan Gidley. Noting that she called Gidley a Senior Strategist, Halperin countered that Gidley is actually Alex Wagner's Sidekick - or (perhaps!) wishes he was.It may not have been Alex's moment of the day, but we're glad our intern enjoyed the exchange! read more

Shepard Smith: How do you feel about the Michigan win?Mitt Romney: Ah, well, we feel great. Michigan was just another case of voters taking a look at Mitt Romney and saying "Ehhhh, I guess."That's pretty much how it's going for Mitt Romney these days. A reluctant coalescing. read more
