How much would you pay to fund gridlock? Well, one statistic that we didn't get to today shows that it costs taxpayers more than $53,000 per day to fund the House, according to a Congressional Research Service Report from last year. That boils down to about $8,400 per hour. But according to Roll Call, those numbers don’t include the salaries of lawmakers so Congress’ daily rate is likely far higher. House members earn a base salary of $174,000 a year. For Speaker John Boehner, tack on $49,500.But Americans don’t seem all that pleased with what they’re paying for. read more

The latest NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll is out, and there's good news for both political candidates. The President currently holds a 6-point lead over Mitt Romney in a head-to-head match up, driven largely by leads in the female, Latino, and African American voting blocs. But he's vulnerable on the issue of the economy, where Mitt Romney enjoys higher marks. Trouble is, the poll indicates there is a growing consensus that the American economy is strengthening under President Obama - theoretically undermining Romney's core message.Most importantly, perhaps, is that it's only still April. read more
