WJH: behind the scenes

Wondering why we chose "Gladiator" as the theme of this week's What Just Happened?  First off, this may have been the longest week of the Republican primary yet. Think back to Monday morning: Jon Huntsman and Rick Perry were still in the race, Romney had two wins under his belt, and social debates centered around gay marriages, not open marriages.

But there was one constant -- South Carolina was living up to its reputation and hosting a political bloodbath.  Candidates dropped like flies, frontrunners walked into traps, and contenders left for dead came roaring back to life.  Alex Wagner asked if the audience at the raucous debates thought they were at the Roman Colosseum -- shouting, jeering and calling for heads.  South Carolina is downright dangerous for weak campaigns, but it's great entertainment for everyone in the bleachers.
