For the past decade, American drone policy has existed in the shadows, its legal justifications and moral underpinnings largely relegated to debate among progressive media outlets and concerned libertarians. That changed this week with the publication of a leaked Justice Department memo obtained by NBC News.

On Thursday's show, the panel on NOW With Alex Wagner panel discussed the legal framework behind the administration's targeted strikes on US citizens overseas, President Obama's mixed record on the issue, the American public's seeming ambivalence about extra-judicial killings and the Untied States' use of drones as the primary weapon in the War On Terror.

Alex was joined by the Director the ACLU's National Security Project Hina Shamsi, Huffington Post Political Editor Sam Stein, Time Magazine Executive Editor Radhika Jones and GQ Deputy Editor Michael Hainey.
