“Those of you that will be 21 by Nov. 12th, I ask for your support and your vote.”
Rick Perry courting the youth vote today in New Hampshire! Apparently he doesn’t need the 18, 19 and 20-year olds.
The Texas Governor, more famous right now for his misstatements than his actual policy, got a few things wrong here. First, 18 is the minimum voting age in this country. And secondly, election day will be on November 6, 2012 - not on the 12th.
But we all make flubs. Maybe he was just misremembering when he was first able to vote. The 26th Amendment passed in 1971 lowering voting age to 18. And in 1971, Rick Perry was 21.
