Actor Jeffrey Wright and director Allen Hughes stopped by NOW with Alex Wagner Friday to discuss their new film “Broken City” set to hit theaters next week. The film stars Russell Crowe as a corrupt New York City mayor whose tendency to bend the law to his will is challenged by an ex-cop-turned private detective played by Mark Wahlberg.
The two discussed the film and of corruption and power more generally as it relates to the contemporary political scene in Washington.
“He’s obviously frustrated,” Wright said of President Obama. “His expectation when he came in was to be a unifier. I think from a psychological perspective for him it’s got to be incredibly disappointing not to be liked. “
