In a special comment Wednesday, Alex Wagner argued that “the legal justifications, national security implications and the drones’ destabilizing effect on America’s image overseas are no clearer now than they were following the killing of Nek Muhammad nearly nine years ago.”

This weekend Mark Mazzetti from The New York Times reported on a secret deal between the U.S. and Pakistan in 2004 that resulted in the killing of tribal leader Nek Muhammad. The story comes amid a continued lack of transparency after the drones debate that attended C.I.A Director John Brennan’s Senate confirmation hearing February 7.
