NOW With Alex Wagner traveled to Owsley County, Kentucky – one of the poorest counties in America – to get a first-hand look at the growing hunger epidemic in the United States. 

Food stamps, called SNAP benefits as of 2008, have long been a controversial political topic. But for one in every two residents of Owsley County, food assistance from the government is a necessity for getting by.
